What to Expect During Your Lip Augmentation Treatment or Procedure?
Lip augmentation or “lip flip” treatments using dermal filler injections are performed in our office. We may use a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during treatment. A very fine needle is used to inject the filler precisely where it is needed, using formulations and amounts selected to produce the most natural-looking medical spa results.
Treatment usually takes about 15 minutes. When the treatment is complete, you are free to resume your normal daily activities.
Surgical lip-augmentation procedures and fat grafting involving liposuction are usually performed using local anesthesia and mild sedation. As part of your consultation, Dr. Loizides will explain the surgical approach he proposes and the expected length of the procedure.
After the surgery is complete and you are fully alert, you will be able to go home. Prior to your surgery, You should arrange to have a friend or family member drive you home when you are discharged and stay with you for the first night.
What to Expect After the Lip Augmentation Treatment or Procedure
There is no downtime or recovery period after lip augmentation with dermal fillers. You will see your results right away, though you may experience some minor swelling or bruising in the days right after treatment. Dr. Loizides will instruct you to avoid strenuous activity, extensive sun exposure, and the use of aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for the first 24 hours.
Recovery from surgical lip augmentation can take one to two weeks. Because the lips are dense with vascular tissue, they are particularly prone to swelling, and residual swelling can take a few weeks to subside. Dr. Loizides will provide you with complete care instructions during the healing process, including when he’d like to see you for follow-up visits.
